The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, said this Monday that he also personally met Charles McGonigal.
During a statement held by the Assembly headquarters this Monday, Balla said that the meeting between him and the former FBI official was an institutional meeting at the time the latter was in office.
He said that the conversation was focused on the functioning of the relations between the FBI and the Albanian authorities.
" The first thing to look at is that the official has come in his capacity as an official of the American state, and of course I have also met him, where we discussed the excellent relations between the structures of the USA and Albania. And when a request comes to meet an official of this level, no one would say no.
There have been meetings of a level of cooperation as long as he has been in office. I have not met him when he was not on duty.
I tell every Albanian citizen that there is no issue in this story. It is a conversation that is related in the framework of an acquaintance meeting or experience sharing, since there is no more organized structure in the world today in relation to corruption, cyber attacks and any other crime than the FBI ," said Balla.
