This is the last week in which Ilir Meta will exercise his duties as President of the Republic, as his full 5-year term ends on July 24.
Although elected in 2017 by 87 votes of socialists and LSI deputies, Meta in the post of Head of State during the second year of his office turned into a "wall" for the government and the majority of Edi Rama.
Media sources and journalists' desks say that Meta will cooperate with his political "friend" Sali Berisha, the latter declared non-grata along with his family.
Three days after the USA declared former Prime Minister Sali Berisha "non grata", Ilir Meta reacted to his former ally in 2009-13, calling him a "scumbag" ordered by the kleptocracy regime in Tirana.
Acting President Ilir Meta said at the time that the US act is ugly, treacherous and vile, which is only related to anti-Albanian lobbying. President Ilir Meta has referred to the United States embassy as "Palo Embassy".
But will Ilir Meta herself be declared non-grata?
Ilir Meta has recently appeared next to American ambassador Yuri Kim, despite the clashes between them. The president's confidants think that America will turn a deaf ear to Meta's statements and clashes with the ambassador
We remember that in an interview for the show "Çim Peka Live", Meta said that whoever has a message for him, tell him face to face, as he will get the deserved answer.
"If there is a group of embassies that have chosen a group of politicians to deliver messages to Ilir Mete, I tell you that they will have Ilir Mete here. Whoever has a message for Ilir Meta should tell him himself because he will get the answer he deserves", said Meta. The question that remains will the American embassy give the message to Ilir Meta and what will be the reaction of the president in office?
