Will the Democrats unite into a single group? Here is how Gazment Bardhi answers

Gazment Bardhi spoke today to the media after the meeting of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party.

Bardhi said that the meeting discussed, among other things, the possibility of the union of the Democratic Party and the opposition as a whole.

He said that there is still no conclusion regarding this issue and that as soon as there is a conclusion, he will communicate with the media.

"The question of the merger of DP and the opposition was also discussed. Each colleague gave his opinion. When we have a conclusion I will be in front of you to communicate it. First, I will tell my ideas within the parliamentary group and then to the media", said Gazment Bradhi.

Bardhi was asked by journalists if he will start talks with the democratic deputies who support Lulzim Basha. He said that most of his democratic colleagues who support Basha are honest and that they would not combine their votes with those of Rama.

"Most of the colleagues who have lined up with Basha are honest opponents, they will never vote for Rama's laws that favor Rama. Basha's group cannot combine votes with Rama" , said Gazment Bardhi.

Further, Bradhi announced that the opposition will continue the action in the Assembly with protests, just as it has done during the parliamentary sessions in recent months.

"Definitely the opposition will continue the protest" , Bardhi said when asked if the opposition will block the progress of the plenary session that will be held on Monday, January 15.

Bardhi also said that he will send two laws approved by the majority to the Constitutional Court; the law for the Port of Durrës and the law that increases the profit on free professions. Regarding the Electoral Reform, Gazment Bardhi said that Prime Minister Edi Rama is treating the electoral reform as a market commodity.

"It became clear why he wants to block the work of the Electoral Reform Commission. Edi Rama's goal is to treat the Electoral Reform as a commodity that is sold in the market. I want to express my regret that a very small part confirmed yesterday that they are in this attempt", said Bardhi.

Gazment Bardhi also called on President Bajram Begaj not to decree the law on investigative commissions.

" This bill has constitutional problems. The president should not decree it. It is his duty to return it. I addressed the president institutionally and I expect him to implement his constitutional obligations ", said Bardhi.
