A bar has been engulfed in flames in the Nea Ionia neighborhood of Athens, completely destroyed by the fire. The flames have also caused significant material damage to three apartments located above the building where the bar was located.

The causes of the fire have not yet been announced, while investigations have been taken over by Greek authorities, who suspect that it was intentional arson.

According to Greek police, this is the same bar where 37-year-old Albanian Pëllumb Islami was shot dead on February 22, 2023. He was shot to death with a single bullet inside the bar. Greek authorities have not yet said whether the fire that broke out today is related to the murder of Pëllumb Islami or to people involved in that incident.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of the fire and whether it was intentionally set, while police are collecting evidence and testimony to shed light on the circumstances of the incident.
