Laura Pausini has confessed to one of the most difficult periods of her life, when during the Covid pandemic she considered giving up music.
She claimed on Alessandro Cattelan's "Supernova" podcast that her career was experiencing an extraordinary moment, having been nominated for a Golden Globe and an Oscar, but her success coincided with a difficult period for the people close to her.
Many of her friends were losing family members to Covid or facing economic hardship, which caused the singer a strong sense of guilt.
"Many of my friends were losing friends or parents to Covid, while I was nominated for Oscars and Golden Globes. I had lost a lot of desire and had decided that I didn't want to sing anymore," she confessed.
To get through that period, Pausini returned to the music of his childhood and the artists he had listened to in his early years.
The singer also spoke about her relationship with astrology and superstitions. One of the most special stories is related to her grandfather, who died on January 9th.
He was the first close person Pausini lost, and it was through this experience that she first understood what the physical absence of a loved one meant. From that moment on, she began to consider the number 9 an unlucky number for herself and her family.
For this reason, Pausini never announces a tour, releases a new song or an album on a date containing the number 9, i.e. on the 9th, 19th or 29th. In fact, on September 9th (09/09) she does not work at all and prefers to stay at home.
But this is not the only superstition that influences her choices. Pausini also revealed that she has a particular distrust of people with the Gemini sign.
This belief even influenced the selection of new collaborators: when reviewing CVs, he avoided those of people born under this sign.
