Lawyer Plarent Ndreca states that, even 24 hours after Erion Veliaj's transfer from Durrës prison to Fier, the defense has not received official documentation explaining the reasons and legal basis for this decision.

In an interview for the show "Breaking" with Fiori Dardha on Top News, Ndreca said that he was present when a group of employees of the General Directorate of Prisons took Veliaj from the Durrës institution, without making the relevant act available to him.

"We continue to wait. It has been 24 hours and we still do not have the reasons why Mr. Veliaj was transferred from Durrës to Fier," said the lawyer, adding that communication with the institutions has been limited to security issues, without a detailed justification for the decision.

" I was also present at that moment at the Durrës detention facility, where a group of police officers from the General Directorate of Prisons took Mr. Veliaj without his consent and without official notification, without a reasoned and argued act for the reasons for his transfer to the Fier detention facility. We had a debate there. A request was made by me and Mr. Veliaj to be acquainted with the act, the reasons and the causes. We were not given anything. We were not given any information or letter, which even until now, as we are talking together, has not happened. Last night we were together with the Ombudsman, Mr. Shabani, who should be thanked for the rapid institutional and personal reaction ", declared Ndreca.

The lawyer also claimed that there were objections to not allowing the Ombudsman to enter the cell where Veliaj is being held.

"It was a strange and absurd debate. No argument. They do not provide any legal or juridical argument and ignore what the Constitution of the Republic of Albania provides, which directly stipulates that the Ombudsman cannot be prevented from entering any cell and immediately verifying the conditions of any prisoner or detainee," he said.

Ndreca explained that the letter made public was delivered by Veliaj himself to him and the Ombudsman.

Asked about the reasons for Veliaj's refusal of food, Ndreca said that, from communicating with him, he had understood that it was a concern of his, but did not provide a definitive explanation.

"It is a concern, as far as I understood from the communication with Mr. Veliaj. We will see today, we will determine how this matter is going and then we will evaluate, in communication with the family, how we will react at this moment," the lawyer concluded.
