An unusual robbery occurred in the "5 Maji" neighborhood in Elbasan.

As reported by the police, at around 04:05 this Monday morning, five still unidentified people entered a residence to rob it.

But the case doesn't end there.

Disguised as police officers and armed with firearms, the perpetrators entered the apartment at a time when the family members were asleep, threatening the owner and initially demanding weapons and drugs, and then money and valuables.

The owner of the apartment has recounted the frightening moments to the media, indicating that the robbers threatened him with a gun, while they put a pistol to his nephew's head.

"The incident happened at 4 in the morning. We were sleeping. Disguised as police officers, they told me not to move, 'Police'. At first they told me where my gun and drugs were, then they asked me where my money was. They put a gun to my nephew's head. The whole incident lasted for 15 minutes. We had 6 children at home, they were traumatized. I don't know who did this ," declared Lorenc Zerellari.

The 19-year-old nephew also spoke about the fear he experienced during the robbery, stating that the perpetrators hit him with a pistol.

Family members have told the media that the event caused panic, especially among the children who were in the apartment.

According to the Police, the perpetrators took four mobile phones and a sum of money. Meanwhile, the family members have stated that around 3 thousand euros and three phones were stolen from them. The full value of the stolen items is expected to be determined during the investigation.

After the perpetrators left, the family members raised the alarm and started chasing them.

As soon as they noticed the presence of the police, the robbers fled towards a hilly area, abandoning their vehicles and taking advantage of the darkness. According to reports, they were also followed by a police patrol.

During the investigative actions, the Police found and seized two vehicles that were suspected to have been used during the robbery, as well as clothing similar to Police uniforms and other evidence that will serve the investigation.

The police continue to work to identify and arrest five suspects, as well as to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
