The Greek island of Rhodes is experiencing dramatic hours after fires have gotten out of control while people have been evacuated from the beaches of Kiotari and Lardo areas, local media reports. The footage coming from Rhodes is shocking, like the one of five horses running through the streets of the island to escape the flames.
Hundreds of vacationers have left their hotels. The images show the sky above the smoky island. Four locations have been evacuated, including two seaside resorts. The flames have reached three hotels, which have also been evacuated, according to local media.

Fire Service spokesman Yannis Artopios said more than 200 firefighters and 40 fire engines were operating on the ground, assisted by three planes and five helicopters. Three coast guard ships, as well as one from the army, were evacuating vacationers from two beaches on the island.
We recall that massive fires have engulfed Greece for days as a result of the heat wave that continues in Southern Europe.
Evacuated a few hours ago. Hotel burned to the ground.

We're safe in a hotel at the moment. No phones working, no news.
Hope everyone got out safe. pic.twitter.com/trJQvGF8Du
