Arrested for drugs, 22-year-old returns home after a year in a terrifying Dubai

Isabella Daggett, the 22-year-old British woman who was arrested for drugs, has returned home after almost a year in a tough Dubai prison.

The 22-year-old from Leeds was arrested five weeks after she went to the United Arab Emirates for a new job as a recruitment consultant.

Despite the charges against her being dropped in January, she was only allowed to leave Dubai this week.

Authorities also fined her around £3,000 for overstaying her visa while she was in prison. Her family has stated that Isabella had never used drugs and that she was innocent.

The family has also told of the terrible prison conditions, where Isabella was unable to wash or change her clothes for months.

A family friend told the Daily Mail: "Everyone thought he would head home as soon as the charges were dropped in January, but the visa fine kept him there. It was like a final blow after everything he'd been through."

Isabella had gone to Dubai to work for a businessman, in a similar role to the one she had in the UK, recruiting construction staff. A few weeks after arriving, she was arrested along with a man she was staying with after they were caught with drugs.
