Sleeping on stomach

Chiropractors have given the alarm about the position of sleeping on the stomach, or upside down.

Doctors and sleep experts say sleeping in this position isn't healthy how comfortable you may feel.

Surprisingly, only about 7 percent of adults opt for this sleeping position, while most sleep on their backs, according to News Medical.

Some parts of the body are negatively affected by sleeping face down, such as shoulders, neck and back.

According to a study by the Cleveland Clinic, "When a person sleeps in the abdomen, they lift their spine and risk damaging the body.

"This position puts added stress on the lower back, and it's a part of the body that most of us are already straining in our daily activities," the study says.

Neck pain can develop even after turning your head to one side all night, unless you stand "face down" in the extreme.

Speaking to Neësweek, Dr Sarah Jane said sleeping on the stomach can also bring risks from shoulder pain, as people naturally lift their arms while resting.
