One month in detention - this is the decision made by the Kosovar justice for the rapper Feronit Shabani, known simply as Fero.

This is because a few days ago he attacked a person in a car in the city of Gjilan. Violent images were immediately published on social networks and then the police intervened by arresting the rapper.

Today he appeared before the Basic Court of Gjilan" which decided to leave him behind bars. Through an announcement to the media, the Basic Court in Gjilan announced that the rapper will remain in custody for one month, on the charge of "Assault".

Full notice from the court:

"The Basic Court in Gjilan has approved the request of the Basic Prosecution of Gjilan, assigning the detention measure of 30 (thirty) days to the defendant F. Sh.

There is a well-founded suspicion that on 24.07.2022 at around 17:00, on "Mulla Idrizi" Street in Gjilan, in a public street and place, the defendant after a dispute with the injured party EE who was listening to music and was sitting in the white VË Golf 6 car as a passenger, the defendant F. Sh. physically attacked him, punching and kicking him several times in different parts of the body, until other people present intervened removed the defendant.

With these actions, the defendant is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of assault, an offense sanctioned by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (KPRK).

The judge of the preliminary procedure has assessed that there are legal reasons for assigning the measure of detention to the defendant, since other alternative measures would be insufficient at this stage of the criminal procedure.

The parties have the right to appeal against this decision on the appointment of detention in the Court of Appeal". 

Fero's lawyer claimed that his client had been provoked. "Fero was drinking coffee in his neighborhood, he saw some young people down at the cafe and decided to rent them, when at one point a car passed by, which provoked him, which led to his attack", said Egzon Halimi in an interview for 'Telegrafi.com'.

He added that the provocation was made by playing Fero a song by Unikkatil in which he publicly insults Fero. "The person inside the car was playing a song by Unikkatili, in which the rapper Fero is severely insulted and insulted, and through it, he provoked Fero, where the latter did not bear the pressure and started the conflict in the affect. He doesn't even know the people he attacked, as the case happened without premeditation, so it has nothing to do with any enmity", added the lawyer.
