The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has accused NATO member countries of participating in the conflict in Ukraine by donating weapons to this country, and has said that the West is planning to destroy Russia.

"They are sending arms to Ukraine worth billions of dollars. This is participation," Putin said in an interview for the Rossiya-1 channel.

"This means that they are participating, albeit indirectly, in the crimes being committed by the Kiev regime," Putin said.

International law experts agree that sending weapons to war does not make the supplier a party to the conflict – no matter what the weapons are. Putin has said that Western countries have "one goal - to destroy the former Soviet Union and its main part - the Russian Federation".

"Only then they will probably be able to accept us in the so-called family of civilized people, but only separately, each one separately".

During the interview, Putin repeated the calls for a multipolar world and said that "there is no doubt" that this will happen.

"What do we oppose? We are against the fact that this new world, which is taking shape, is being built only on the basis of the interests of one country, the United States".

"Now that their attempts to reconfigure the world according to their wishes, after the fall of the Soviet Union, have resulted in this situation, we are obliged to react," Putin said, among other things.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022. The Russian president calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine. The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions. As a result of the war, thousands of people have died and millions more have been displaced from their homes.
