American actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are known to be very close friends with each other. The chemistry between the two has also been conveyed on the screen, in the collaboration they had years ago in the first season of the "True Detective" series.
But recently, McConaughey has hinted that he and Harrelson might be brothers. During an interview in the USA, he said: "We don't know where it begins and where it ends, the line has always been faint. My kids call him Uncle Woody, while his kids call me Uncle Matthew, etc. etc.. Even when they see the old photos, my family thinks that many of his photos are mine and vice versa".
"In Greece, years ago, we were talking about how close our two families were," added McConaughey. "And there was my mom, who said, 'Woody, I knew your dad'... We all found out that the word 'know' had a lot of weight inside it."
“We started digging into that word and found out that while (Harrelson's) dad was out on parole, my mom and dad were filing for a second divorce. Then we began to think that there would be receipts somewhere in West Texas where the two of them might have met."
Matthew said they are debating whether or not to take a DNA test to confirm the relationship between them.
"Look, it's a little easier for Woody to say, 'Come on, let's do (the DNA tests),' because what does it cost him?" he said. "It's a little harder for me because I think, 'Wait a minute, you're trying to tell me that my dad might not be my dad, 53 years from now?' It's a little more difficult for me."

Ironically, the two star in the Apple TV+ comedy series Brothers with Different Mothers, a portrayal of their friendship.
They first met in 1997 while working on Ron Howard's film, "EDtv". In addition to the series "True Detective", they also starred in the movie "Surfer, Dude".
