List: The most dangerous places for tourists

The geopolitical crisis that erupted in the Middle East in late February 2026 has significantly changed the global travel map. Military strikes by the United States and Israel on targets in Iran, as well as Tehran's response with missiles and drones in the region, have prompted many governments to issue strong warnings to their citizens.

The escalation of tensions has had an immediate impact on air transport and international tourism. Some airlines have suspended certain routes, while in some cases airspace has been temporarily closed. Also, some airports in the region have operated with restrictions or suffered damage to infrastructure.

Countries such as the US, the UK, Canada and several European countries have issued new travel advisories for their citizens, advising them to avoid travel to certain areas or even to leave certain countries immediately. The warnings mainly concern regions near the center of the conflict and countries that host military bases or strategic energy infrastructure.

Countries currently considered high-risk for travel include Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan.

At the same time, some areas of the world continue to be considered very dangerous for years due to conflict and instability. Afghanistan, Sudan, Russia, Ukraine, Myanmar and Mali remain among the destinations with a high level of risk for travelers.

Experts warn that if tensions in the Middle East escalate further, the impact on international travel and the tourism industry could become even greater in the coming months.
