News & World Report presents the ten highest paying jobs in the US for 2023, perhaps offering a hint for future professionals or providing an alternative for people already in the world's workforce.

However, the data is definitely more complicated for those considering a career change, as overall, more than half of the jobs on the list require a doctorate or are in the medical field.

Other higher-paying jobs that generally only require a four-year degree include roles in IT, sales and marketing, and business. While despite the advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence, these "more expensive" professions continue to focus more on caring for people.

Below are the 10 highest paying jobs of 2023:

Anesthesiologists - Average annual salary: 310,000 euros

This highly specialized career tops the list of highest paying professions. The working hours for an anesthesiologist can, of course, be long and unpredictable, as they follow the schedule of the operating room. Anesthesiologists must be there for both planned surgeries and emergency procedures, which adds to the unpredictability of the workday.

Maxillofacial surgeons - Average annual salary: 295,000 euros

These surgeons treat a wide range of diseases, injuries and defects in and around the mouth and jaw. Among the most common problems they can manage are wisdom teeth, misshapen jaws and tumors as well as cysts of the jaw and mouth. They can also perform dental implant surgery. They work in hospitals, large medical centers and dental offices and may be professors in dental schools or supervisors of training specialists.

Obstetrician gynecologist - Average annual salary: 280,000 euros
