Read about the things parents secretly sacrifice to make their children's lives better. After you've read our article, put your phone away, leave any work, fun or coffee and go thank mom and dad for everything they've done for you.

Parents have given us so many things in life. From before we were born, throughout childhood or even when we are adults, they never stop... they give so much, even though they may give up their wants and needs. And it happens that we never appreciate this until the moment when we become parents ourselves. Even then, we sometimes don't realize their value until it's too late and they're gone. So let's change that!

Surfing the Internet, I read this expression: "Appreciate your parents! You never know what sacrifices they made to raise you!". It really made me realize all the things we give up for our children, which made me think that our parents have done the same for us. And from one study to another, we've curated a list of the sacrifices parents silently make to raise happier kids.

bedroom

Lack of sleep is so common when a child is a baby, but it continues when they are 2-3 years old, the age when they start sleeping through the night. This "torture" lasts throughout childhood, even a little further. The night before the first day of kindergarten, nerves and anxiety leave us sleepless. When they tell you that you don't like that outfit, but a different one for school, you delay your sleep to iron it, and the list goes on and on and with it sleepless nights.

Peace of mind

Everyone worries, but before you become a parent, at least you have a chance to relax. You know that by taking care of your responsibilities, you can relax and unwind. But when you become a child, you will have at least one concern a day about the child's well-being, which will beat you like a hammer in the depths of your mind. Even when you think you are calm enough, that "enemy" voice will whisper in your ear: "what if?". And so, tranquility will become a thing of the past.

Privacy

Privacy is a completely foreign concept to children, at least until they become teenagers and seek to keep to themselves. We parents forget what it was like to go to the bathroom alone or shower in peace. And we also quickly learn that anything we say (even when we think we're not being heard) will be repeated verbatim by children to the wrong person at the wrong time.

time

Have you ever thought about how much time we devote to children? Here's some help – every day for the first 18 years of their lives. We take very little time for ourselves, only when we have made sure that we have met all his needs. Then we feel bad and guilty because we have devoted time to ourselves and not to the children. According to psychologists, this is one of the main reasons why mothers feel guilty throughout their lives, as they feel they have neglected their children.

Wishes

When you become a parent, your desires take a back seat and everything is re-dimensioned all over again. First come the wishes of the children, then the basic needs of life and finally those wishes that you may have. Even when you have some spare cash, you are more inclined to spend it on something you know your child likes and adores. / Source: Psychology magazine/
