Mike Tyson has revealed that he is suffering from sciatica. Concerns about the former world boxing champion's health were heightened last month when pictures of him in an airport in a wheelchair while also carrying a walking stick were published.
However, the sports legend sought to clarify speculation about his health in an interview with Newsmax TV this month.
“I get sciatica from time to time. When it happens, I can't walk. Thank God it's the only health problem I have. I am very well now," he said.
Iron Mike, as he was known, was forced to retire from the ring in 2005 due to back problems.
Tyson himself concluded on his Hotboxin podcast that he didn't believe he had much longer to live.
"We will all die one day of course. Then, when I look in the mirror, I notice those little spots on my face," he said. "I say: Wow. This means my due date is approaching, very quickly."
