Wall Street Journal: Pentagon has been preventing Ukraine from firing US

US officials told the Wall Street Journal that the Pentagon has for months blocked Ukraine from using long-range missiles to strike inside Russia, limiting Kiev from using a powerful weapon in its fight against the occupation.

A high-level approval procedure by the Defense Department, which has not been announced, has prevented Ukraine from firing any U.S.-made Advanced Tactical Military Missile System, or ATACMS, against targets in Russia since late spring, officials said.

In at least one case, Ukraine sought to use ATACMS against a target on Russian territory but was denied, two officials said.
