Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is trying at all costs to stop student protests across Serbia. And since the first methods have not worked, Vucic has already ordered the administration to go out in counter-protests against students.

As stated in a message circulating on social networks and groups on Viber, "citizens who oppose the blockades" will gather in all local governments in Vojvodina (except Novi Sad). They announced rallies in 29 other locations in Serbia. The counter-protests are expected to start this afternoon at 6:30 a.m.

The first such rallies were held on Wednesday, August 20, while Interior Minister Ivica Dacic announced that they would also take place on Saturday. They were officially organized by the Center for Social Stability and senior officials of the SNS invited citizens to them.

According to Dana, officials from the Progressive Alliance's coalition partners were also required to appear. Also, in recent days, leaflets with messages against the blockades have appeared in the mailboxes of Novi Sad residents.

Two people have died and dozens more have fallen ill in a listeria outbreak in many countries linked to soft cheese.
