Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said Ukraine will lose everything it has within the day if it recognizes Kosovo's independence.
"After that, how can she say she adheres to international law?" Vucic said on August 8.
He added that Ukraine is a friendly state of Serbia, and that there is no trouble in relations between the two countries.
Vucic made the comments during a joint press conference with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic in Belgrade, where they answered questions about a letter from MPs from European Union (EU) countries and the United States, who called for stricter measures against Serbia.
On August 7, dozens of politicians from Europe and the United States sent a letter to senior EU and Washington officials, urging them to change their approach to Kosovo and Serbia.
Ukrainian Ambassador Volodymyr Tolkach said on Tuesday that there is growing increasing voice in Ukrainian society for recognition of Kosovo's independence, and that a certain number of deputies in ukraine's parliament are supporting the stance on possible recognition of Kosovo.
Ukraine does not recognize Kosovo's independence, declared in February 2008.
"Ukraine's position is principled and stable – Ukraine respects serbia's territorial integrity," Tolkach said in a statement.
But Toklach said Kosovo's leadership "has taken a clear stance on condemning Russian aggression towards Ukraine, especially by sanctioning the aggressor."
He acknowledged that it is no surprise that voices are growing more and more in Ukrainian society in support of kosovo's recognition of independence.
"Ukraine, as a democratic country that respects freedom of speech, cannot limit the expression of opinion of other politicians, professional circles or the public," he said. /REL
