Engineer and former mayoral candidate in Guatemala, Jose Elias Ramirez, was executed in broad daylight on the street. Security cameras captured the moment of the murder on the morning of November 8. The perpetrators, dressed as workers, got out of a car and then opened fire on Ramirez.
He was shot several times along with his partner, Anna Maria Andres. After a few seconds, the killers covered Ramirez's body with his jacket and fled in an unknown direction.
Eight hours later, the Guatemalan National Police found the car used by the killers. It was revealed to be a vehicle that had been reported stolen on May 22, 2025.
Ramirez was an engineer and businessman, owner of the company Constructora D&D Ramirez y Hernandez. In 2023 he participated in the mayoral elections of the city of El Tejar representing the Cabal party, but still failed to win.
