The murder of three girls by their father in the US, shocking details emerge: He

The United States is following with shock the developments surrounding the suspected murder of three sisters - Patin, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 - by their father, 32-year-old Travis Decker.

According to the case file that emerged after the bodies were discovered, the girls were found with plastic bags over their heads and their hands tied. Their bodies were discovered Monday afternoon in an embankment near a campground in Wenatchee, Washington state.

Initial forensic evidence indicated that the most likely cause of death was asphyxiation. According to the New York Post, the girls were still wearing the same clothes they had been wearing the previous Friday, the day they were reported missing. That same day, Decker had picked up the girls for a scheduled visit from the home where they lived with their mother, but had not said where he was taking them.

Two bloody palm prints were found in the back of Decker's truck, while data from his cellphone shows he was in the area where the bodies were found on Saturday.

Who is Travis Decker?

Meanwhile, the search continues for 32-year-old Travis Decker, who is accused of kidnapping and murder. Authorities have announced a $20,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest.

Decker is an Army veteran whose ex-wife and the girls' mother had repeatedly raised concerns about his mental state, describing him as increasingly unstable. He had served as a paratrooper and earned the title of "Ranger," which signifies survival and escape skills in extreme conditions. He was also certified as an instructor at the National Guard's National Warrior Training Center in Fort Benning, Georgia, and had been a member of the Washington National Guard since 2021. However, he was facing discharge from duty due to repeated absences from monthly training.

In 2024, his wife, Whitney, filed for divorce, citing his mental instability. According to her, Decker had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and had exhibited narcissistic behavior, and she suspected that he was no longer receiving necessary treatment.

“He was in the military for many years. After his discharge and enlistment in the reserves, his mental disorders and narcissism spiraled out of control,” she said in her divorce petition. She added that in recent months his condition had deteriorated significantly: “He had several violent outbursts, forced his way into my home against my will, and screamed about the girls.”
