The American government classified this drug trafficker as one of the most important in the world, in addition to supplying cocaine to the Pacific Cartel, he also held talks with the El Mencho organization.

Colombian police arrested Wilder Emilio Sánchez Farfán, alias El Gato (Maçoku), an Ecuadorian drug trafficker considered one of the most powerful in South America and with strong ties to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) and Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel .

In February 2022, the United States Government listed "El Gato" as one of the most important drug traffickers in the world, based in Guayaquil, Ecuador. According to information from the US Embassy in Mexico, " Sánchez Farfán was receiving multi-ton quantities of cocaine from production laboratories in southern Colombia and passing this cocaine from that country to Ecuador via land transport. Cocaine shipments were sent from Ecuador to Central America, Mexico and the United States via private aircraft, sea vessels, commercial containers and land vehicles ."

In addition, El Gato is considered by the US as an important source that supplied cocaine to the Sinaloa cartel through partners that facilitate the shipment of several tons of this drug to members of the Pacific Cartel operating in Culiacán, Manzanillo, Ensenada.

 The connection that this drug trafficker has is not only with the organization of Ismael El Mayo Zambada or with the children of Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán, as the American authorities also link him with the criminal organization of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho.

"Sánchez Farfán has sent representatives of his organization to Mexico for meetings with members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) in order to establish working relationships for the importation of large quantities of cocaine into Mexico from Ecuador," - explained among other things American Embassy in Mexico.
