Making inappropriate comments about their children seems to have become the norm in the Donald Trump family .

The former president's eldest son Donald Trump Jr sparked outrage when he called his 17-year-old daughter Kai 'sexy' earlier this week.

He can be heard making the comment in a video where they were sitting side by side in makeup chairs as they prepared for the Republican National Convention.

Kai spoke at the convention where her grandfather was confirmed as the party's candidate for this year's presidential election.

In the video posted on Trump Jr.'s own TikTok account, the 46-year-old says: Kai, what do you think, makeup makes me sexy like you ?

His teenage daughter tells him: I think you look very beautiful. Trump Jr replies:  Thanks Kai, I'm glad you think I look really good. As a make-up artist applies the make-up to his face, he adds: I'm excited for Kai's first speech, where she chose a very big place to make her debut. I love you Kai .

His video, viewed more than 8 million times, has sparked public outrage.

" That sounds kind of bad ," one person commented.

" So, actually we don't want to call our daughter sexy ," said another.

One went so far as to say: I think it's weird and creepy if you think your daughter looks hot.

Former President Trump, 78, once claimed he would date his eldest daughter Ivanka, 42, if the two were not engaged.

That 2006 appearance on The View wasn't the only time Trump made such comments about Ivanka.

That same year, he told radio host Howard Stern that Ivanka has " always been very lustful ."

Ivanka's body was allegedly a regular topic of conversation for Trump during his presidency, a former administration official claimed in a book last year.

Aides said he talked about Ivanka Trump's breasts, her behind and what it would be like to have sex with her," said Miles Taylor, who served as chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security.
