The Israeli military says it mistakenly killed three hostages held in Gaza by Hamas during an incident on Friday.
The news was announced by a military spokesman saying that the incident is "under review".
The Israeli military said the hostages were killed during fighting with militants in Gaza and expressed its condolences to the families, while saying there would be "full transparency" in the investigation into the incident.
According to Israeli authorities, a total of 135 people, some of whom are believed to be dead, are still being held captive by the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
So far 110 hostages have been released and 105 of them have been exchanged for Palestinians held in Israeli jails during a seven-day ceasefire.
