Fired today / Deputy Minister Vokrri called Skanderbeg "pro-Slav",
Arber Vokrri

Kosovo Deputy Minister Arbër Vokrri, who was dismissed from office on Friday after accusations that "internationals had incited unrest in the north", was previously known for shocking and highly scandalous statements.

Vokrri had also commented on the origins of the national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti - Skanderbeg.

A year ago he had said that the Kastrioti family was “Orthodox.” Vokrri was an early member of Vetëvendosje.

In a comment on the social network Facebook, he wrote that the Kastrioti family is buried in the holiest Serbian monastery.

"This half-Albanian sultan defeated the half-Serbian emperor of Byzantium (he was killed), and it is known that he was at war with the Orthodox part of the Kastrioti family, like his father. However, these sultans did not bother the Orthodox Kastriotis when they also became monks in the most sacred Serbian monastery, where they are buried," Vokrri wrote.

The dismissed Vokrri also dealt with religious beliefs.

While invited to an iftar at Shefqet Krasniqi's, an imam known for politically incorrect statements, Vokrri said that Albanians are part of the mission to spread Islam to the West.

"As believers in this society in which we live, we have amazing potential," he said at the beginning of the disclosure of his religious ambitions.

"We (our ethnicity) are the product of the combination of at least two civilizations. But culturally - alhamdulillah - for more than six centuries we have been under the strong influence of Islamic civilization. And we can say that we are certainly the only people with the most political significance who can be proud of being the product of Islam's tendency to spread towards the West. Because one of the missions is to take the word of Allah to every home and be a torch of human civilization..." - he said.
