President Donald Trump's chief of staff, Susie Wiles, reacted after a Daily Mail article that highlighted that Richard Grenell had left Trump's inner circle precisely because of a clash with the "Ice Lady".
Susie Wiles called the British media editorial office and denied having had any debate with Grenell during the Republican National Convention, while emphasizing that he is not her friend.
"He's not my best friend," Wiles said during a phone call Friday.
"We're not close, and the idea that we had any fight, I don't know... and I don't think he feels that way about me."
"I can't say I've never cried, but it's rarely and never because of him. This debate just didn't happen," she said.
The Daily Mail mentioned an episode that, according to sources close to the White House, negatively affected Grenell's position, where he clashed with his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, during the Republican National Convention.
It was alleged that a dispute over the timing of his speech escalated into harsh tones and insults, which later contributed to his non-engagement in high-level positions in Trump's second term. Grenell has denied the clash and stated that he maintains friendly relations with Wiles.
