Donald Trump has made the first reaction regarding the file of the former FBI official, Charles McGonigal, who investigated the former President for suspected connections with Russia in the 2016 election. In a post on his social network Trump went: “This FBI guy who was after me for that Russia, Russia, Russia thing… long before I was elected President, he just got arrested for taking money from Russia, Russia, Russia. Let him rot in hell!”
NewsWeek adds that McGonigal was one of the first FBI figures to be made aware of allegations that George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign adviser, bragged that he knew the Russians had information that could damage Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. In 2019, special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation determined there was no evidence that Trump and his campaign colluded or coordinated with Russia.
Just three days ago, the full dossier and 9-count indictment the FBI filed against former FBI agent and counterintelligence chief Charles McGonigal was released. The pages of the file show a lot about the political developments of the last 5 years in Albania, where the protagonist is Prime Minister Edi Rama and his fight against the opposition. McGonigal has held consecutive meetings with Prime Minister Edi Rama and two people named in the file as 'Person A' and 'Person B', who are respectively Agron Nezaj and Dorian Ducka, both connected to the Albanian government. Nezaj appears in the file as the man who gives $225,000 to McGonigal in order to intervene in the FBI to start the investigation of the person who was lobbying in the US for the DP, in 2017 when it was led by Lulzim Basha. It is supposed to be about Nicolas (Nick) Muzin.
