Trump demands the removal of UNMIK from Kosovo!

The new US administration has made its first public move in relation to the Western Balkans by demanding the removal of the United Nations mission UNMIK.

The request was presented at the Security Council meeting by the organization's charge d'affaires, John Kelley, and was also supported by Foreign Minister Donika Gervalla.

"The time has come to withdraw UNMIK from Kosovo. We call for the gradual closure of this mission. The United States is committed to eliminating unnecessary spending in international organizations. UNMIK is a peacekeeping mission without peacekeepers, with 81 percent of its budget going to personnel salaries even though the mission has long exceeded its mandate," said John Kelley.


Meanwhile, during the session at the United Nations Security Council, Kosovo and Serbia exchanged mutual accusations.

Serbia, through its chief diplomat Djuric, accused Kosovo of worsening the situation for Serbs there. Chief diplomat Gervalla said that Belgrade aims to destabilize the situation.

Meanwhile, the Russian ambassador used this meeting to denounce the memorandum signed between the Defense Ministers of Albania, Kosovo, and Croatia.

The normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia was considered essential for stability in the Western Balkans by ambassadors of Western states.
