President Donald Trump said that both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky want him to attend a possible upcoming meeting between the two leaders to discuss a path to peace.
“They both want me to be there,” Trump said in a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity. “They both want me to be there, and I will be.”
Asked if he was confident that peace could be achieved in a relatively short period of time, Trump replied: "Pretty short, yes."
Trump also admitted that he was wrong to think that the Russia-Ukraine conflict would be "easier" to resolve, referring to his election promise to end the war within 24 hours.
"I thought this would be the easiest of all, but it turned out to be the hardest," Trump said.
