Giovanni Padovani is 27 years old, footballer of Sancataldese de Sicilia. But precisely because he proved to be a cold and cruel killer, he is now in the center of attention of the whole world. Sick jealousy led him to commit a terrible crime that shocked Italian society.

On August 20, he abandoned his team's gathering, which was to play in the Coppa Italia, and went to Bologna, where he killed his ex-girlfriend (Alessandra Matteuzzi) with a hammer. Padovani has been following his ex-partner for some time, but this time he waited for her at the door of the house and attacked her Britishly at her entrance.

The woman was talking on the phone with her sister, who from afar and helplessly heard the screams and brutal blows with which the player killed Alessandra. "I was 30 kilometers away, I couldn't do anything. I heard her begging him not to hurt her, shouting a lot and I called the police," she said.

The sister notified the police, who immediately went to the place, but there was nothing they could do. Padovani was at the scene, visibly upset, and told agents, "I'm glad you came..."

"They broke up in January but he started stalking her. The footballer was very persistent and stood at her door, tried to enter her house, turned off the security system... everything...", the sister of the deceased said.

Jealousy was ever present during the relationship and the player went so far as to force his girlfriend to send videos to confirm the places he had been.

Alessandra was still conscious when authorities and medical teams arrived, but she died in hospital. Padovani is in prison awaiting trial.
