US President Donald Trump is preparing to offer Russian President Vladimir Putin access to rare earth minerals in exchange for peace in Ukraine.
According to The Telegraph, Trump will arrive at the long-awaited meeting with Putin on Friday in Alaska with several proposals aimed at drawing Russia towards a peace agreement ending the war in Ukraine.
These proposals also include access for Moscow to Alaska's natural resources and the easing of some US sanctions on the Russian aviation industry.
A key part of the package is also providing the Kremlin with access to rare minerals located in Ukrainian territories currently occupied by Russia.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, Trump warned that Putin would face "serious consequences" if he did not agree to end the conflict in Ukraine during their meeting in Alaska.
He also revealed the intention for a second meeting immediately, this time with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
