After the scandal revealed in Brussels, the vice-president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, has been suspended from office.
Yesterday evening, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, sent a letter to the Greek MEP informing her that she was removing her from her position in the wake of the investigations.
Its decision has immediate effect.
"In light of the ongoing judicial investigations, I have decided to suspend with immediate effect all the powers and duties I have assigned to you in your capacity as Vice President of the European Parliament", she says.
As the MEP and vice-president of the European Parliament, Dimitris Papadimoulis, said, the procedures for her final removal from the EP Bureau are being accelerated.
For the removal of Eva Kaili, the Conference of Presidents must meet with a 60% majority and 2/3 of the plenary session must approve the decision.
