Montenegro's Prime Minister Milojko Spajic arrived today at the hospital where the wounded from gunfire were treated at a restaurant in Cetinje. He told TVCG, four people were seriously injured, with seven others, including two children, killed.
"It's a terrible tragedy that has hit us all. All police teams are on the scene at the moment. We're looking for the author, we're on the right track. Doctors are fighting for four lives at the clinical centre. Everyone is undergoing surgery at the moment and doctors are fighting for their lives," Spajic said as he announced the announcement of three days of mourning.
"There is a chronic shortage of police officers in all municipalities. We will announce tender for the rapid admission of police officers without waiting for the decision of the Council of Europe and will explain later" he said.
He said the Montenegrin army was on alert, while the perpetrator, identified as Aco Martinovic, is still armed and on the run.
The director of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro, Aleksandar Radovic, says four patients who are in danger of life have been sent to the hospital. It's about three men and one woman.
"All teams are in the room. All four operating rooms are now functional. I couldn't comment on the result of the operations," Spajic said. They have no information that anyone else is being taken to the hospital.
Police said in a statement that Martinovic killed at least four people, including several members of his family, in a restaurant and then fled armed.
"We note that the person is armed and dangerous and once again we appeal to cetinja citizens to remain calm and stay in their residential facilities and not to allow unknown persons into their homes," police said, adding that they are taking all necessary measures.
Martinovic committed the crime at the Velestovo restaurant, near the Sports Centre in the centre of Cetinje.
According to the RTCG portal, Martinovic had previously been in conflict with the D.K. with whom he met there. He then went home to get a gun, returned to the cafe where he killed and injured several people. After that, he headed to the village of Humci, where he killed the cafe owner's children and a woman.
Cetinja is under police blockade, while members of the Montenegrin police's special counterterrorism unit are on the streets, checking all entrances and exits from the city.
In the august 2022 massacre in Cetinje, 11 people were killed, including two children. At that time, Vuk Borilović from Cetinje in a bloody feast shot randomly at his fellow citizens, after which he was also killed.
