The Pentagon has asked American defense industry companies to significantly accelerate the production and delivery of weapons, at a time when the United States is facing significant shortages of some types of weapons, following the war in Iran.
The request was made through an internal US Department of Defense memo, obtained by The Washington Post.
In the document, Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg asked defense company executives to submit concrete plans to accelerate production and shorten delivery times within a maximum period of 21 days.
According to the memorandum, the industry is asked to propose measures that will enable "much faster and more aggressive delivery times and/or increased production for critical capacities."
