Is Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, dying or not?

Iran released a rare video of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, following reports that he was in critical health condition, Anadolu reports.

The video, broadcast by the semi-official Mehr news agency, shows Mojtaba Khamenei surrounded by several people and appearing to be addressing them.

Mehr did not disclose when and where the video was recorded, nor did he identify the people accompanying him.

The agency reported on Sunday that Mojtaba met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is beginning his third year in office.

The meeting discussed current challenges facing Iran, including the population's welfare needs and the military conflict with the US, "as well as economic interaction with foreign partners," the agency added.

Mojtaba was elected Supreme Leader of Iran in early March, after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on February 28. Since his election, he has not appeared in public.

Iran and the US agreed to a ceasefire in April and then signed a memorandum of understanding in June, aimed at ending the military conflict and reaching a lasting peace agreement.

However, the deal collapsed last month, as Tehran and Washington traded attacks for nearly two weeks before US President Donald Trump abruptly halted the bombing amid reports of talks to resolve the conflict.
