Serbia challenges EU calls: We will not join Western hysteria towards Russia

A senior Serbian official said Tuesday that Belgrade will never impose sanctions, or join Western "hysteria" against Russia for its attack on Ukraine.

Serbia's Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that "Serbia will never be part of anti-Russian hysteria, under which the property of Russian citizens and property of the Russian Federation is stolen". "We also will not stop the Russian media," he said.

Serbia is a strong ally of Russia, although it has condemned the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Serbia is seeking membership in the European Union, but is the only European country that has refused to join international sanctions on the Kremlin.
