Speaking from the G7 summit, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has expressed strong support for Israel regarding its attacks on Iran.

He said that Israel is "doing the dirty work for all of us."

"This is the dirty work that Israel is doing to all of us. We too are victims of this regime. This regime of the mullahs has brought only death and destruction to the world," Merz said in an interview with German broadcaster ZDF.

Earlier, in an interview with the German broadcaster Welt, Merz said:

"This regime is very weakened and will probably never recover its former strength, which makes the future of the country uncertain. We will have to wait and see."

Merz further added that the Europeans' offer of diplomatic assistance continues to be valid as it was before the attacks, in the event that talks resume.
