Putin praises President-elect Trump: I am ready for talks

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 Presidential elections and has declared that he is ready for talks with his American counterpart.

During his speech at a meeting in the Russian city of Sochi, Putin congratulated Trump on his election as US President. He further hailed Trump's actions during his assassination attempt as "brave".

"I was impressed. He is a brave person. A person shows his true character in these emergencies and I think he handled it admirably."

Putin noted that Trump has expressed a desire to end the conflict in Ukraine and that such statements deserve at least attention. The Russian president added that he was open to receiving a call from Trump.

On the other hand, Trump has repeatedly promised that he will quickly end the conflict in Ukraine, although he has not given many details on how he will make such a thing possible.

Meanwhile, Moscow says any solution must begin with Ukraine ceasing military operations and acknowledging that it will never regain control of the Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as Crimea.

In addition, the Kremlin insists that the goals of its military operation, which include Ukrainian neutrality, demilitarization and denazification, will be achieved.
