The heir to the throne in the Netherlands, Princess Amalia, was forced to move to Spain and lived there for a year to escape threats.
According to Dutch media, which cite sources from the royal palace, the 20-year-old has lived and studied for more than a year in Madrid.
In October 2022, just a few weeks after starting to study at the University of Amsterdam, Amalia was forced to abandon plans to live in the Netherlands due to fears for her safety.
Officials did not confirm details that year, but Amalia and Prime Minister Mark Rutte had been mentioned in communications made by organized crime groups, leading to fears of a possible kidnapping.
Queen Maxima said at the time that her daughter, then 18, was unable to enjoy the life that other students were leading.
The threat to Amalia has not completely disappeared, but the princess returned to the Netherlands again due to the "measures" taken.
Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool said she had been back in the Dutch capital since February.
