Serbia has reiterated its official request for the conditional release of former Republika Srpska army commander Ratko Mladic.
According to official reports, the penitentiary authorities of the International Mechanism for the Execution of Decisions have determined that Mladic is in the terminal phase of his life and have therefore facilitated maximum access for his family, but have not accepted the request for his hospitalization in a hospital in Serbia.
For his part, Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujic has stated in a written request that currently only palliative care remains for Mladic, and Serbia has also requested his transfer not to his home, but to the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade.
Two of the five judges have approved the Serbian request, but Mladic nevertheless remains in prison in The Hague.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017 by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for genocide and war crimes committed in 1992-1995.
