President Donald Trump has announced that after speaking with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, they have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay tariffs on anything covered under the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement until April 2.

"After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement. This agreement is until April 2nd.

"I did this as an accommodation and out of respect for President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been very good and we are working hard, together, at the border, both to stop illegal aliens from entering the United States and to stop Fentanyl. Thank you President Sheinbaum for your hard work and cooperation," Trump wrote.

Earlier, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum had declared that she would respond in kind to the US, announcing tariffs on American imports on Sunday, which Canada has already made a reality, imposing tariffs of 25% on American goods.
