The emissary of the European Union for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, has today completed his visit to Belgrade and the meeting with President Aleksandar Vucic.
At the end of the meeting, Lajcak said that he had a frank and open conversation with Vucic about the way forward, underlining the need for new elections in the four municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo.
"I continued my visit with a meeting with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. We had a frank and open conversation about the way forward, including the need for new local elections with the participation of Kosovo Serbs and a return to dialogue. The meeting and the visit helped to clarify the next steps", writes Lajçak on Twitter.
The day before, Lajçak met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, from whom he requested that Kosovo and Serbia return to the dialogue table in Brussels. Mentioning the sanctions against Kosovo, Lajcak said that he did not want the EU to reach that point, and that everything must be done to return to the way it was before.
