The Mayor of Terni and secretary of the Alternative Popular party, Stefano Bandecchi, has called for the Italian state to reinstate the death penalty.
He emphasizes that there are two crimes that he calls 'extremely heinous', femicide and pedophilia.
His proposal was made public through a video posted on his Instagram profile.
Bandecchi's statement comes after the murder of Ilaria Sula, a 22-year-old student originally from Terni, who was stabbed to death and then stuffed into a suitcase by her ex-boyfriend, Mark Samson, 23, Italian media reported.
