A Russian missile attack has hit the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky. At least 16 people have been killed and dozens more injured, according to reports.
Among the victims are 6 children, said President Volodymyr Zelensky, who grew up in Kryvyi Rih.
Footage from the scene showed at least one victim lying in a playground surrounded by police. The head of the city's defense administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, said a ballistic missile had landed in the center of a residential area.
A video showed a large section of a 10-story apartment block destroyed by the attack and victims lying on the street outside.
The attack, early Friday evening, was among the deadliest in Kryvyi Rih since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022, and comes as US President Donald Trump pushes for a ceasefire.
On social media, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry posted video of the attack near the playground, while President Zelensky expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
