The United States is suspending military aid to Ukraine, days after US President Donald Trump clashed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office, a White House official confirmed to Reuters on Monday.
The official said the US is suspending and reviewing the aid to ensure it is contributing to a solution, Reuters reports.
The suspension will last until Trump determines that the country's leaders are showing a sincere commitment to peace, according to reports by Bloomberg and Fox News.
"This is not a permanent cutoff of aid, it's a suspension," Fox News quoted a Trump administration official as saying.
Bloomberg reported that all US military equipment not currently in Ukraine will be suspended, including weapons that are in transit on planes and ships or that are in holding areas in Poland.
The report also added that Trump ordered Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to implement the suspension.
The reports come hours after Trump told reporters at the White House that he had not discussed suspending military aid to Ukraine, but added that Zelenskyy "should be more grateful" for Washington's support.
Almost three years into the war, Washington has committed billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.
