US authorities have issued a severe weather warning for New York, where the heaviest snowfall since 2022 is expected, with a thickness that could reach up to 25 centimeters.

The situation has already caused chaos in transport, with thousands of flights cancelled and the risk of further deterioration, making it difficult for travelers to return home after the holidays.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency in several counties, while emergency services have been placed on full alert.

The winter storm is expected to hit the northern East Coast of the United States, with Chicago and New York airports among the hardest hit. Meanwhile, on the West Coast, heavy rain continues to cause concern, with fears of landslides and thousands of people forced to evacuate from endangered areas.
