"We will not condemn the attack of Hamas"/ Palestinian Prime Minister:
Mohammad Shtayyeh

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh told CNN that he will not condemn the Hamas attack that killed more than 1,000 people on October 7 because " blindly supporting Israel is a license to kill ."

" I hope the United States does not go in that direction," he added.

In a sit-down interview in Ramallah in the West Bank, Shytayyeh told CNN's Becky Anderson why he was unwilling to condemn the attacks.

" Palestinian history does not begin on October 7" - said Shtayyeh. " The Palestinian catastrophe has been there for 75 years, and we've cried loud and we've shouted loud and clear that we need a solution."

He went on to say that " the punishment should be (for) the killing of every civilian, every human being who does not deserve to die. We must condemn this."

Shtayyeh claimed that the feeling of the Israeli people is a feeling of revenge.

" Israel is not under existential threat and I think the White House, (President Joe Biden) should call on the parties to sit down and work together (for) a peaceful solution," he said .

The visits of world leaders to Tel Aviv in support of Israel - and we mention here mainly the visit of Biden on Thursday and the visits of the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in the last week - "have given the green light to Israel to continue the attack on Gaza" , Shtayyeh said.

"International support should be for peace, not aggression," he said. The prime minister called for a collective international effort led by the United Nations Security Council to end the war.

" What you need is a collective international effort on the part of the members of the Security Council to take the lead in ending the conflict and finding a solution," said Shtayyeh.
