August 23 was expected to be a day of celebration for the citizens of Solingen in Germany. They were celebrating the 650th anniversary of the founding of the city. But a knife attack, which left behind 3 victims and 8 wounded, overturned everything and turned the party into death and fear.
The incident happened before the festival started, where a 15-year-old suspect hit 2 men and a woman in the throat and neck, while injuring several other passers-by who were heading towards the center of the festivities. After the chaos that engulfed the area, the police were able to arrest a 15-year-old as the suspected perpetrator after a few hours.
The police still do not have a clear motive for the act, while they do not exclude the classification of the event as terrorist, since the victims have no relation to the author.
There are 4 people fighting for their lives as a result of their injuries. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants the maximum punishment under the law for the perpetrator of the massacre.
Meanwhile, earlier in Germany, there was a call to be more careful by the police, for knife crimes that occur in public squares or mass organizations in German cities.
