A 48-year-old nurse has been arrested by the Italian authorities after he confessed that he was the cause of the death of 4 elderly people, whom he served as a caregiver.
Mario Eutizia went to the carabinieri himself on Thursday and admitted everything he had done.
According to the Italian media, the 48-year-old confessed that in all four cases, he had given doses of sedatives many times above the allowed level to his clients, causing their deaths.
According to him, he did this out of mercy, driven by a "deep feeling of compassion and mercy for the victims".
Two of the murders took place in 2014, but the authorities have not yet identified the two victims.
While two other cases were registered, one last December and the other in March of this year.
The last two victims have been identified.
The family members of the last two killed have confirmed that Eutizia served them in the period he stated.
Both seniors suffered from mental health conditions and were on various sedatives.
According to the Italian media, Eutizia begged the authorities to arrest her to help her stop killing again, because if she were to work with such people again, she could repeat the act.
